Resort Information

Val d’Isère’s one of the best resorts in Europe for intermediates and experts. The 300km area, shared with neighbouring Tignes, is loaded with long blues and reds, as well as waist-high bumps and off-piste where you can really test your technique. Not-so-confident skiers can stick to the greens or head over to Tignes to find some easier blues to practise on. Most of the slopes are above 2,300m, so good snow should be a given. The town’s got an exclusive reputation and accommodation ranging from traditional hotels and apartments to 4 and 5-star places with all the bells and whistles. The restaurant line-up is impressive too – whether you’re craving Savoyard specialities, a gourmet meal or just a classic all-day breakfast, you can find it here. And the quality is always on-point. If you’re a real foodie, don’t miss the Michelin-starred La Table de l’Ours. When the afternoon rolls around, hit up La Folie Douce to stomp along in your ski boots to live entertainment. Then follow the après vibes to Cocorico at the bottom of the lifts and end the night with DJs and dancing in Petit Danois. If activities are more your speed, try classics like tubing and fatbiking. Or get kitted out with crampons and ice axes to scale a frozen waterfall on an ice climbing session.

Mealtimes are another highlight here. There’s a hot and cold buffet spread each morning to set you up for the day. Then when evening rolls around, settle in for three courses of traditional fare made from fresh local ingredients. And with floor-to-ceiling windows at one end of the dining room, you’ll get to enjoy views of pine-clad peaks with your food too.
