Born2 Ski and Travel - Tailormade Ski Holidays

USA Ski Holidays

For anyone who has only ever skied in Europe, a trip to North America will be a pleasant surprise. The excellent all round skiing and spectacular scenery, combined with superb customer service, fantastic resort facilities, spacious pistes, no lift queues and outstanding lift systems will make this an unforgettable experience. The skiing in North America is some of the best skiing available. The Continent has numerous great ski areas to offer.

I often say one of the main Ingredients of any Ski or Snowboard holiday is SNOW – and the US Resorts tend to deliver with some awesome stroms often delivering feet of snow rather than a few cms often experienced in Europe

There are five or six major ski areas in the USA, California and the West including Wyoming, Montana Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and New England in the East.

Park City Utah, Vail, Breckenridge and Lake Tahoe are just a few resorts which offer a superb winter holiday experience.

The ski terrain in the USA is varied. Either being a beginner or advanced skier, you will always have plenty of choice. Snowboarders will also find plenty of suitable terrain. North America is also suitable for family ski holidays, with many resorts offering superb ski schools, and great childcare services at great savings to prices in Europe. Plus with the increased cost of Flights in Europe particularly for February Half Term & Easter you can often go to North America for similar costs to those in Europe and a lot Less crowded on the slopes.

Thanks to the many high altitude resorts, you can be confident that there will be plenty of snow both on and off the pistes. Most resorts open on Thanksgiving week end in November and close in late April. Though a few such as Mammoth and Arapahoe Basin can stay open into late May and sometimes the 4th of July.

The area is renowned for the off piste skiing which is excellent, and you will not find any better fresh powder skiing than here! So if have never experienced powder or off piste skiing or boarding then head to the US now.

2 of my Favourites are always UTAH as it says the Greatest Snow on Earth .. and it is due to its unique Geographical Location near the Great Salt Lake and Nevada Dessert.

Park City you can easily combine with a twin Centre in Las Vegas – only a 5 hour drive away Or combine with a visit to the beautiful Southern Utah area with its famous rock formations.

Plus with Direct 10.5 Hour Flights from Heathrow to Salt Lake City Airport – which I have to say is excellent and with smaller Immigration queues than other US gateways and also one of the shortest ski transfers of anywhere – 45 Minutes to Park City.

Then there is Aspen & Snowmass one of the most historic Ski Areas in the USA – as I often say ASPEN IS ASPEN.. nowhere else like it – Exuding Class Charm some of the best Apres in the US and 4 World Class ski areas – Aspen – Ajax Mountain -with its new HERE terrain – Highland with the awesome Hiighlands Bowl to Buttermilk – home of the X games and some tremendous Pipes Snowparks and excellent family ski area. To the awesome Snowmass – simply a vast ski mountain that delivers for every level of skier or Boarder.

I have been very lucky to ski and visit both areas on numerous occasions and as I often get asked I would have to say at least 6 of my favourite ski days over the years are in Utah & Aspen Snowmass

US Ski Areas I have been Lucky to ski in over my lifetime on the snow –

  • East Coast – Killington Attitash Wildcat Bretton Woods Loon Mountain Resort Cannon & Black Mountain.
  • Colorado – Arapahoe Basin Breckenridge Copper Mountain Resort Keystone Vail & Beaver Creek. Steamboat & Winter Park Aspen & Snowmass area Telluride & Crested Butte.
  • California & the Wonderful Lake Tahoe area – Mammoth Heavenly – Lake Tahoe

So for any impartial and experienced advice you require for any future Ski or NON Ski trips to the US give me a call – JUST GO you will love it and once you are over the jet lag some of the best skiing you will experience and ski on some quiet uncrowded slopes.
